Department of Neurosurgery

The Department for Neurosurgery at the General Hospital Bamberg (Sozialstiftung Bamberg) is one of the most modern neurosurgical centers in Germany. It is also one of the few centers in Europe that is specialized in minimally invasive neurosurgery.

The team of experienced neurosurgeons uses the most advanced surgical equipment and techniques available to achieve outstanding outcomes in minimally invasive treatments of cranial and spinal disorders. The combination of the surgeons’ practiced skills over several years with continuous learning and applying the knowledge of cutting-edge research ensures the high level of excellence. The philosophy of our department is based on an integrative approach in order to treat the whole patient. Therefore patients with tumors of the central nervous system are treated by an experienced team of experts of the Brain Tumor Center Bamberg (HTZ-B) where individual treatment plans are designed for each patient based on the latest international research results.

The Department of Neurosurgery covers a wide field of neurosurgical procedures with the emphasis on minimally invasive and endoscopic procedures.

We perform procedures to treat brain tumors, skull base tumors, cerebral hemorrhages, degenerative diseases of the spine such as stenosis of the spinal canal, intervertebral disc herniation, tumors of the spinal cord and spinal nerves, hydrocephalus, chronic pain and diseases of the peripheral nerves.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Guenther C. Feigl isProfessor of Neurosurgery and Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery and specialized in:
• minimally invasive skull base surgery
• neuroendoscopy
• radiosurgery
